JSC EASTERN ENERGY COMPANY EXPORTED OVER 2.72 BLN KW/H OF ELECTRIC POWER FOR THE PERIOD OF 9 MONTHS IN 2015
By results of 9 months of 2015 JSC Eastern energy company exported over 2.72 billion kW/h of electric power to China and Mongolia.
In 9M 2015, JSC EEC’s electricity exports to China exceeded 2.5 billion kWh and 220 million kWh to Mongolia. The electricity exports to China fell 5 percent year-on-year, albeit rose 8 percent year-on-year in 3Q 2015. Overall, JSC EEC plans to keep the electricity exports in 2015 at the 2014 level. The electricity exports to Mongolia fell 26 percent year-on-year. Lower electricity exports to China resulted from amendments to the supply contract schedule agreed with Chinese customer. A relative decrease in the electricity exports to Mongolia were due to a fall in the industrial production in Mongolia, as well as the launch of the new power unit at Ulan-Bator TPP-4.
Technology-wise, electricity export to China is enabled by a complex of interstate 110, 220 and 500 kV power transmission lines, which link the power systems of the Russian Far East and the Northeastern Provinces of China.
Export is ensured by means of procurement of excessive volumes of electric energy in the territory of the Far East, driving an increase in the capacity factor and the growth of additional revenue across regional generating enterprises and wholesale infrastructure organizations.
